When you’re working with an image in Photoshop, you’ll often need to create more than one path to complete a set of actions. Once you know how to create a single path, you can easily make new paths. Beginning a new path takes under a minute, and it will allow you to perform a number of tasks on several different parts of your image.

Open the file for which you want to create multiple paths in Adobe Photoshop.

Right click over the pen icon on the Photoshop toolbar.

Select the “Pen Tool” option from the drop-down menu that appears after you click.

Find the “Path” icon on the toolbar that runs across the top of the Photoshop file window and click on it.

Draw the first path. Click on the file’s canvas wherever you want a path anchor point to fall. To make a closed shape, after you place the final anchor point, click on the first anchor point you made to close the path.

Find the path palette window on your computer screen. If you can’t locate it, go to “Window” on the navigation bar at the top of the Photoshop window and select “Path.”

Select the path you just completed from the path palette and drag it over the “New Path” icon at the bottom of the window. This icon looks like a square with the lower left corner turned up. Release the mouse to save your newly created path.

Repeat steps three through seven to create a new path. Continue working until you’ve made multiple paths.
